Primary Purpose:
Assist the Payroll Manager with daily payroll activities of the district.
Ensure that payroll is delivered in compliance with applicable state and federal laws and regulations and in a timely manner.
Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
High school diploma or GED Special Knowledge/Skills:
Knowledge of basic payroll accounting procedures Ability to maintain accurate and auditable records Ability to use software to create spreadsheets, databases, and word processing Proficiency in keyboarding and file maintenance Ability to work with numbers in accurate and rapid manner to meet established deadlines Effective organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
Experience:
3 years payroll accounting or equivalent experience in a school district.
Skyward experience preferred.
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
Payroll Accounting ? Prepare accurate district payroll for distribution of regular, special, and supplemental payrolls to employees following established procedures.
Payroll Specialist - Lead Liberty Hill ISD ? Audit timesheets for all district employees for accurate calculations of hours worked, leave, and overtime pay.
? Ensure adherence to standards and procedures, and take steps to correct problems, delays, and inaccuracies.
? Balance payroll earnings and deductions, to ensure accuracy of payroll data input and calculations.
? Process payments for liabilities generated through payroll.
? Compile, maintain, and file all reports, records, and other documents required, including auditable records.
? Work under moderate supervision to ensure accurate and timely preparation of payroll records Data Entry ? Process payments and changes for supplemental pay and payroll deductions.
? Prepare records and reports as necessary.
? Compile, maintain, and file all reports, records, and other documents required, including auditable records.
? Assist with the preparation of payroll reports and forms including those required by Internal Revenue Service, Texas Workforce Commission, Texas Retirement System, Federal Insurance Contributors' Act (FICA), Medicare, Texas New Hire Reporting, and Workers' Compensation Commission.
Other:
? Work cooperatively with the human resources department, principals, directors, and staff regarding payroll-related issues.
Assist with the equitable resolution of complaints, concerns, and problems in the area of payroll.
? Respond to requests from financial institutions regarding verification of employment.
? Maintain confidentiality of information.
? Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures.
